Time's A Revelator
I know that that is a Gillian Welch song, but it is what I am listening to this very moment while I write a quick post about the Wailin' Jennies, so deal with it.
The show last night was pretty much one of the best things that I have ever seen. The Wailin' Jennies, for those of you not in the know, are very very excellent. I give them my highest recommendation, and if they are coming to your town, or back again to my town, it is mandatory viewing. One thing I love about Portland is the concerts. This is one of the best cities in the world to see live music. I have a stack of ticket stubs of shows that I have been to. I think there are around twenty, and the oldest one is only from 2005. I've lived here since 2002, and I went to a lot of shows between 02 and 05. I must have lost those tickets though. This year I've since Glenn Hansard and Margeta Irglova from the movie Once, M. Ward, The Decemberists, The Wailin' Jennies, and Immortal Technique. Actually I think the Once show was last year, but still it was awesome. Next month I'm seeing Beirut and probably Mason Jennings. I also saw the Mountain Goats this year. Don't be too jealous, if you lived here you could do the same as I do and spend all of your money on shows. It isn't too bad a way to go.
