Turns out yesterday I was supposed to report for jury duty. I remembered around 11:30 pm and promptly freaked out. There is a notice in the summons that says if you fail to appear for duty they can find you in contempt of court and fine or arrest you. I hate police and authority figures. I always feel like I am going to get in trouble for something, even when I haven't done anything. Yesterday I was sure that I was on the verge of spending some serious time in the big house. Luckily for me I called my intelligent big sister this morning and she told me to call the court house. I did, and I got rescheduled for jury duty. Now I'm a free man, and looking forward to June 4th, my day in court. After the whole ordeal ended this morning I talked to a few different people about jury duty related incidents. A couple people I talked to said they had received summons and just blown them off. Both of them are still walking the streets. I think maybe my freak out was a little premature. I probably could have skated on this one, but as I always say, better safe than sorry.
In totally unrelated news, I am not playing soccer this spring. Still Hung Over, that's my basketball team, has reunited, and it feels so good, so now my sundays are spent on the hardwood not on the soccer field. I keep getting emails from the team though, because I haven't been taken off the list. I am having a hard time convincing them that I am not playing. I sent an email to my manager tonight that was pretty clear. I feel bad about not playing, but I just have other things to do right now. Plus I don't really feel like risking another four week suspension or another seventy dollar fine. That was totally bogus.
Last night I saw Mirah at the Mission with Leah and Olivia and it was pretty sweet. Mirah is totally indie and the show was pretty excellent. The dude that opened was this fellow Danbert Nobacon. He used to front Chumba Whumba. Now he has a total anarchist rock schtick going. Half of his set was pretty good, and the other half was god awful. It evened out to OK. Mirah made up for it though. She was AWESOME. And the show was free, which is the best price. Bobby has been promising me free shows for six years and has delivered a grand total of ZERO! I got one from Leah only six months after she moved here. Some times it pays to hold onto high school friends.
